Story Behind The Song
This song was inspired by a moment holding my daughter in front of our house as we watched storm clouds approach in the distance. I turned to her and said "I wonder if we can outrun the rain." That evolved into a metaphor of how we could beat the dark things in this world that try to take our joy by overcoming the odds like someone outrunning the rain. My co-writer Peter Moore, pointed out to me that this was too soft of a message. It meant we were running from the problems instead of overcoming them. Then it hit me, we don't have to run from the water, we can run through the rain!
Song Description
This is a song about overcoming obstacles, about taking on the world, about staring down adversity defiantly in its face. In an age where daily headlines seem to becoming darken by the day, where all that seems to be on the horizon is sunny weather, this song serves as a reminder, we don't have to fear this storm. We can run through the rain.
