Tell-Ahh=Phone

Story Behind The Song

my grandpa used to tell that "you can telegraph, telephone but dont tell - your gramndma!!!" he was a good man. and for that and a whole lot more, this songs dedicated to his memory. --Crawford

Song Description

it's a fast track, foot tap, thank ya Jesus, finger snapping parable about raging onward with both eyes forward in a world of razor wire lovers and fire breathing friends. its a sweet little something in a short amount of time. that said, i hope it makes you kick off your sunday shoes. or at least smile and relax for one little moment now today. and i promise you that the long description of this song is not something just any john q. on the avenue can handle ... it's some heavy stuff and i dont feel comfortable putting firearms in the hands of a buncha pissed off angry eyed feral children, so NO. not today. sorry boss. not gonna happin'

The Go Tell-Ahh-Phone Jivin' Scat
All words and Music by Nick Coleman and Crawford Hurst

A dime a dozen
Time clock buzzing
Call your mama and write your cousin
Go tell
Go tell-ahh-phone
Ohh when you're out there on your own
Go tell
Go tell (Some poorly done Oklahoma scat)
Your trouble to the dial tone

Need cheap lovin
Keep it comin'
When it's all used up
And you aint got nothing
Go tell
Go tell-ahh-phone
Ohh when you're out there on your own
Go tell (Some poorly done Oklahoma scat)
Go tell-ahhh-phone

No need sleepin
Midnight creepin
Hit the highway
And don't stop dreamin
Go tell
Go tell-ahh-phone
Ohh when you're out there on your own
Go tell
Go tell (Some poorly done Oklahoma scat)
Your trouble to the dial tone

Engine clickin
Warm air stickin
Sweats a pourin
And the oils drippin
Go tell
Go tell-ahh-phone
Ohh when you're out there on your own
Go tell
Go tell (Some poorly done Oklahoma scat)
Your trouble to the dial tone

Dust bowl pockets
Dry eye sockets
Aim for the heavens
Just like a rocket
Go tell
Go tell-ahh-phone
Ohh when you're out there on your own
Go tell
Go tell (Some poorly done Oklahoma scat)
Tell your trouble to the dial tone

Curbside singers
Burnt out blinkers
Songs of hunger
And one eyed winkers
Go tell
Go tell-ahh-phone
Ohh when you're out there on your own
Go tell
Go tell (Some poorly done Oklahoma scat)
Tell your troubles to the dial tone

I really like it! I'm not so sure about all the boppity bops, but I really like it. I would like to hear a better recording of this with more instruments and some harmonies. Very fun song! Good lyrics, fun melody line, keep up the writing, this is a good time!
