Story Behind The Song
i wrote the first verse in the early morning hours pre-dawn. i had to pull off the highway to rest and rub my two ton eyes. while my dog was sniffing about for a poo, i drew my notebook from my bag and left an ink stain verse on the page.

Lyrics
Looking For One More Lone Star Ride
========================================
Well it's Sherman down into Plano,
Dallas - Denton - Ft. Worth - Alvarado,
Get the cruise set - light a cigarette - All the way to Waco,
Temple - Austin - Houston if you say so,
-------------
Chorus: :<|||>:
-------------
Only the moon and the stars and those sparse travelling headlights,
Well I hate have a lonely heart,
Along for one more Lone Star ride...
=====================================
Push from San Antonio to Sonora,
The hellish high plains from Ozona north to Toyah,
Across the Wild Horse and through Van Horn traveling to Sierra Blanca,
The Franklin Mountains looking toward Santa Teresa,
Chorus:
Only the moon and the stars and those sparse travelling headlights,
I hate having a lonely heart,
Along for one more Lone Star ride (x2)
=======================================
Bridge:
Hear the ghosts of old Terlingua whisper to you,
Build your home among the rattlesnakes and sage,
Walk the Valley of the Caddo,
Where the sandy hills still stand as stark and as silent as the grave
Chorus:
With only the moon and the stars and those sparse travelling headlights
Well I hate having a lonely heart,
Along for one more Lone Star ride
I hate having a lonely heart,
Well I've hated it from the start,
But I long for one more Lone Star ride.
