Story Behind The Song
While changing string on my electric one day, I decided not to cut off the extra string at the headstock. I started playing this way and some of the extra bit of the strings were rubbing on the taught portion close to the beginning of the fretboard. With chorus and echo it made a great ephemeral, spacey sound that I just had to use. From this piece was born my idea for a concept record on the layers of the atmosphere.
Song Description
The motion is carried by the basses constant pattern like machinery. The lead guitar is intended to lend some feel of the changing emotion and fleeting thoughts an astronaut my have as (s)he is leaving the last part of the earth's atmosphere. There is a single dreamy pad that evokes outerspace. But the ringing sound is not synthesized, it is a real guitar.
