Story Behind The Song
This song was written in response to a Hit License opportunity post with these details: Film- Love and Loss. Posted July 4th. Deadline 8/8/13.
Song Description
A phone call changes everything when a man learns that he is now a Dad to a 16-year-old daughter that he never knew existed. The death of her mother leaves both father and daughter at a loss in different ways and will change both of their lives forever. This song is my best guess at what the movie guys were after.

Lyrics
Sorry, miss, that your momma she's gone.
I liked her, didn't work out to be with her.
That you're around I didn't hear from her.
So hello, miss, I guess I'm your dad.
What should I do? Just talk if you want.
We can't force a bond and I don't want to.
But we're blood though and I should help.
And I'm sorry, it cuts, 'cause your momma she's gone.
The call came and I learned of you.
And I'm finding my way unsure what to do.
And you're getting hit twice, from her and from me.
The wind changes its path, we just try to steer.
She had her reasons, not letting me know.
Could it have been better, who's to know?
But what's done is done, we can't go back.
So hello, miss, I guess I'm your dad.
I'm sorry miss, but I'm taken aback.
I wasn't counting on you, I need some time.
Let my mind wrap around this, miss.
And I'm sorry, it cuts, 'cause your momma she's gone.
The call came and I learned of you.
And I'm finding my way unsure what to do.
And you're getting hit twice, from her and from me.
The wind changes its path, we just try to steer.
I won't make promises except that I'll try.
I'll make time to know me, if that's what you want.
You're blood is of me and I'll stand up for that.
And I'm sorry, miss, that your momma she's gone.
Yes I'm sorry, miss, that your momma she's gone.
Yes I'm sorry, honey, that your momma she's gone.
