Story Behind The Song
This song is based on a poem I wrote about the Chornobyl Accident when it happened. I have family there and was concerned about them. It was also spring time and lilacs were blooming, nature and Ukraine were coming alive and this death cloud impacted the world. I tried to convey all phases of the event including prayers for mercy offered up in Ukrainian at the end amidst radiation.
Song Description
A melancholy journey through time and the region surrounding the Chornobyl Nuclear plant. Starting in a peaceful springtime field of birds, insects, frogs and flowers, it transitions to chaos as the reactor goes critical. This silences nature and we are left with pain, prayers offered in Ukrainian for the living, the dead, and world. And we gaze upon radioactive lilacs.
