Story Behind The Song
This is a reflection of misspent youth and the time spent at a place out in the woods where people would gather to party called the Fern, down at the end of Blind Road. There are several references to real people, some of whom are underground (as in under the ground), and others who became casualties in one way or another.

Blind Road
I went down to The Fern on a Saturday night to quench my thirst and put out the fire. Open eyes, open arms -- the world is your palette tonight
We were tripping all night through the window pane, riding ribbons of laughter falling like the rain. So fine, sublime until the shotgun rider blew a hole in the sky
Blind road -- we're heading down Blind Road
Blind Road -- where the blind lead the blind -- way back in time
Johnny Ballentine drew a line in the sand. Too much rage -- he couldn't understand. Down on 95 he hit the end of the line
Down by the tracks they dug a hole in the ground to hide from the world and all the troubles coming down. Some they never left, they're still underground. Some are still walking down the ...
Blind road -- we're heading down Blind Road Blind Road -- where the blind meet the blind - 'til the end of time
We were kids running wild under moonlit skies. We didn't know a thing until we opened our eyes. She took my hand and led me to the river -- into the promised land
Blind road -- we're heading down Blind Road Blind Road -- where the blind lead the blind -- until the end of time
