Lyrics
Freedom Machine
I still remember clear in my mind
When I stepped on the pedals for the very first time
When I sat in the saddle, how free I did feel
On that blue and white Huffy with training wheels.
And I still remember that parking lot
Those training wheels laying on the ground
My peddling feet. My dad held the seat,
But when I turned around
He was gone now and I was alone
That right of passage I must face on my own.
And though I fell down, the cuts didn?t sting,
Cause I was riding on my freedom machine
Now we talk on our cell phones and we drive in our cars
So busy being everywhere we forget where we are.
Sometimes I think I can't keep up the pace
And I when did I ever join this rat race?
But through all the noise there?s a voice in my mind
Calling me to my lost love again.
I open up the garage and I pump up the tires,
And dust off that old Schwinn.
I?m gone now; I?m all on my own.
I feel like a kid even though that I?ve grown.
All of life?s worries they don?t mean a thing
When I?m riding on my freedom machine.
(Musical break)
I hope I never get tired of the wind in my face as
The whole world passes me by.
Today has already turned into yesterday.
Tomorrow I know my life.
Will be gone, oh, the years will fly by
I?ll be an old man in the blink of an eye.
I?ll look back and wonder what happened to my dreams
And long summer days in the sun on my freedom machine. (Repeat)
