Story Behind The Song
As a result of having not changing the strings on one of my acoustic guitars for over 4 years, the low E string was dulled to a point where it no longer rang out but still had a nice definitive tone and stayed in tune. This allowed me to play rhythmic two string riffs on the Low E and A string without the E getting to much in the way of the sound but still allowing the harmony to be heard and felt. The riff I was playing at the time had a definitive Middle Eastern and World Music feel which I really enjoyed and inspired me to start working out drum and percussion parts to compliment the simple rhythmic guitar parts. After the drums and percussion were added I added some Synthesizers and virtual instruments that had a Middle Eastern sound. When it finally all came together, "The Skies Over Marrakesh " was born.
Song Description
Bouncy and frantic, featuring rhythmic guitar guitar lines with drums, percussion and Middle Eastern sounding synthesizer lines to create an ominous journey that ebbs and flows then builds to end with a question mark.
