Story Behind The Song
Amphisbaena was born from the introductory acoustic guitar line that came out of a daily practice session. A counter melody and simple bassline immediately came to mind and all three parts were promptly recorded. The song now seemed to be doing two things at once; going fast and slow, rising and falling at the same time. The legend of the Amphisbaena instantly came to mind. Sticking with this theme, I continued to build the song with some additional instrumentation that had a "snake-like" feel; scaly, slithering, hissing, rattling, striking, spiritual, mystical, hypnotic, charming, dangerous and deadly.
Song Description
Amphisbaena is an experimental futuristic folk song that combines frantic and lumbering guitar lines with soaring synthesizers, pounding drums and percussion to create a hurried, eerie and ominous feel. It is both fast and slow, rising and falling, calm and frantic all at the same.
