Day That I Die (Full Mix)

Story Behind The Song

Inspired by the Hard Rock of the late 70s and early 80s, "Day That I Die" was an effort to re-capture that essence through simple catchy guitar riffs, harmonized lines, and a wailing solo, driven by a simple and powerful groove provided by the bass and drums. As with most of Matthew C. Bauder's songs it all started with the simple riff in A minor that fuels the verses and grew from there. Lyrics were later added and the full vocal version became the final track on Alien Mustache's(Matthew C. Bauder's sometimes used alias)fourth self released album, "Escalation".

Song Description

Lyrics

Verse 1

Haunted. Hopeless. Desperate. Living on the edge of a knife.
I sit here scheming, seething, dreaming of the day that I die
I wish there's something I could do now that I've hit the bottom.
I 'm lost in this abyss and my brain is nearly numb.

Chorus 1

I won't tell you I love you babe. There's a hundred million reasons why.
So don't ask why I choose my path lest you love me 'till the day that I die. Day that I die.

Verse 2

Daunted. Listless. Helpless. Buried 'neath the weight of my strife.
I lay here waiting, aching, praying for the day that I die.
And now there's nothin' that I can do now that I've hit the bottom.
I've gone too far beyond and my mind is fully numb.

Chorus 2

I won't tell you I love you babe. There's a hundred million reasons why.
So don't ask why I choose my path lest you love me 'till the day that I die. Day that I die.

Chorus 3

I won't tell you I love you babe. There's a hundred million reasons why.
So don't ask why I choose my path lest you love me 'till the day that I die
I won't tell you I love you babe. There's a hundred million reasons why.
So don't ask why I choose my path lest you love me 'till the day that I die. Day that I die.
