Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song after seeing the movie "Antwone Fishcer." I was so moved by his story and the poem he wrote, entitled "Who Will Cry For The Little Boy," that I immediately started writing this song.
Song Description
This is a song about the isolation children of abuse often experience and how they suffer in silence, often without anyone outside the family being aware of their plight.

Lyrics
WHO WILL CRY FOR THE CHILD
Who will cry for the child denied a father?s mercy
Or a mother?s tender-hearted care?
Who will cry for the child who cowers in the darkness,
Streaked with tears, for no one?s there
To cry for the child who walks within the shadows,
Where Fear and Sorrow know his name,
Too lost, alone and innocent to know
He?s not to blame? He?s not to blame.
Who will cry for the child denied a human compass
To guide him through his darkest days.
Who will cry for the child who builds his heart a fortress
To keep the heartache away.
Who will cry for the child who hangs his head in shame ?
Too lost, alone and innocent to know
He?s not to blame? He?s not to blame.
(Chorus) God bless the child.
Can you hear his fervent* prayer?
Bathe him in compassion
And free him from despair.
Let teardrops fall for all that never was.
This child belongs in the hearts of every one of us.
(Bridge with key change)
Who will cry for the child with tears of awe and wonder
For the strength and courage he displays.
Who will cry for the child, a solitary warrior
Intent on finding his way?
Who will cry for the child who finds his voice
And gives his plight a name
So others lost, alone and innocent will know
They?re not to blame? They?re not to blame.
(Chorus) God bless the child.
Can you hear his fervent* prayer?
Bathe him in compassion
And free him from despair.
Let teardrops fall for all that never was.
This child belongs in the hearts of every one of us.
