Story Behind The Song
This is one of the first songs I ever wrote. I wrote it the weekend after 9/11. Rob did the music and vocals and we finished the whole thing in less than 30 minutes. I had my Parkinson's in mind when I started it but as Rob pointed out it also related to 9/11 situation.
I may have Parkinson's but I'm still alive. It could be worse.
I wrote a few songs back in 2000 but then stopped until recently.

Lyrics
It seems like mistakes
and bad decisions
Are all part of the reason
of where I'm at today
My best laid plans
And good intentions
Just seem to never,
Work out that way
But, I'm not complaining
About troubles and strife (pre-chorus)
My ships still out
On that ocean of life
I'm Still Alive
I'm still afloat
I'm still in the race
I'm still on the boat
I still have my senses
I still have my pride
and until they take my breath away
I'm Still Alive
I've yet to hear my name
called on a roll
either from above
or from below
I'll never give up
I'll never give in
I still have my dreams
I still want to win
But, I'm not complaining
About troubles and strife (pre-chorus)
My ships still out
On that ocean of life
I'm Still Alive
I'm still afloat
I'm still in the race
I'm still on the boat
I still have my senses
I still have my pride
and until they take my breath away
I'm Still Alive
Bridge:
Hope is still on my side
I'm Still Alive
I'm still afloat
I'm still in the race
I'm still on the boat
I still have my senses
I still have my pride
and until they take my breath away
I'm Still Alive
And until they try to take my breath away
I'm Still Alive
