Story Behind The Song
As a child of the 80's and 90's, divorce was very prevelant among my peers. I decided to write a song from the point of view of a child very effected by the experience.
Song Description
It's about someone living in the moment of when her father left her family. Everyone else (her brothers, mother, etc.) seem to have moved on, but she is left wondering how it all happened... how could he have abandoned them that way? But mostly importantl

Lyrics
I asked my mother ?will you ever smile??
and she turned to me and she said to me...
?not for awhile?
I asked my father, ?will you ever love??
as he walked away he turned to say...
?prob?ly not enough?
And nobody could console me, when a broken heart had shown me
how the man had been a phony... for all these years!
I don?t want my fear to hide me, from what lies so deep inside me
(I) gotta let my true-self guide me... through my tears!
Chorus:
?Cuz I don?t wanna live a life
like the man I never knew!
How could he take a wife
if he never wanted to?
Like the Devil in disguise
he was good at what he?d do!
And I don?t wanna love somebody
who don?t do what he oughta do
I asked my brother, ?how do you feel??
he said he took some time to get him out his mind...
and now it?s no big deal
So I searched my soul in, hope that I?d find
a little piece of mind through these rocky times
and leave it all behind
But because he was my Daddy
I wanna love him badly
it?s a feeling nagging at me
although I know!
Chorus Repeats
Bridge:
I have never felt so, all alone in my life
I have never felt, so abandoned here by you
When will somebody, help define my pain?
I?m tired, oh so tired of praying
Chorus Repeats
