Story Behind The Song
Growing up, my father was an abusive alcoholic and would physically abuse my mother on a regular basis. One of the most cemented memories I have was when I was 7 years old and my father beat my mother on Good Friday and put her in the hospital for several days. My mother, who was a devout Christian, missed church service on that Easter Sunday, due to the wounds inflicted by my father. I can still remember the look of pain on her face, not because of what my father did to her on that past Friday, but because she had to miss service on Easter Sunday...Its a look I will never forget!! My mother eventually divorced my farther and went on to have a very happy and successful life. This song was written for my father and told through the point of view of my mother. The first time my father heard this song was at a show I did in Los Angeles. As he sat in the audience, I simply introduced the song by saying "This song is called " "Linda's Song" ". My mothers name was Linda. She passed away in 2023.

Lyrics
Strange, could I have back my time I lost while living with you?
Lies, could I take back my words that I once whispered to you?
It's all wrong!
It's all gone!
It's all messed up!
I couldn't survive and go on with the life
and the names and the games were completely insane!
That positive outlook, the music beside it
was nothing compared to the violence inside it!
A black eye and a broken nose, It was wonderful!
A fat lip on Easter Sunday was beautiful!
Throwing hurt, and throwing lies, It was magical!
Losing weight and losing sleep, It was beautiful!
It was wonderful to break me in two!
Pride, will you put up your sword that I once let down for love?
Fate, will you leave me alone, pretend that I was never born?
It's all wrong!
It's all gone!
It's all messed up!
I couldn't survive and go on with the life
and the names and the games were completely insane!
That positive outlook, my music beside it
Was nothing compared to the violence inside it!
A black eye and a broken nose, it was wonderful!
A fat lip on Easter Sunday was beautiful
Throwing hurt, and throwing lies, it was wonderful!
Losing weight and losing faith, it was beautiful!
It was wonderful to break me in two!
