Lyrics
Angel In The Rain
The cold rain soaked through ragged clothes
This Christmas won?t be white
At least it won?t be quite as cold
On this damp, dark, silent night
He looked across the busy street
Then he stopped and looked again
By the door of the old abandoned church
Stood an angel in the rain.
If he?d had the money for wine
He?d have thought it had gone to his head
But, cold sober, he saw her standing there
So he walked to her instead
The plywood that had boarded the doors
Of the church had been torn down
There was a warm glow in the window
And he heard a soft sweet sound
He heard, ?Silent Night, Holy Night,
Silent Night, Holy Night?
He slowly climbed the broken stairs
A choir sang Silent Night
As he drew close the doors swung open
And he saw a beautiful sight.
The church was filled with homeless folks
There was food and dry clothes at the door
It was warm and people were singing
Like a dream he had before.
The paper didn?t have any story
Of the homeless man that was found
Lying on the floor of the abandoned church
There was nobody else around.
They say he died in his sleep
And they doubted that he?d felt any pain
In his hand they found a picture he?d drawn
Of an angel in the rain.
Sleep in Heaven, sleep in Heaven,
Sleep in Heaven, Heavenly peace.
