Jerusalem

Story Behind The Song

I was working in Israel a few years ago and spent a day in Jerusalem. What struck me the most was the tension between new and old concepts, such as historically important buildings or locations obscured by the ubiquitous coke and pepsi signs. But although

Lyrics

Jerusalem

Bright polished crosses in prominent places
Cold marble martyrs with pain on their faces
Look down , with indifference over culture and race
Jerusalem

Drab olive faces in endless procession
Feel safe in the womb, comfort found in regression
They stand, hand in hand with the chosen and the rest
Jerusalem

Fat men in sandals
With similar wives
Take photo reminders
Of the trip of their lives
Then move, as instructed
When the tour guide arrives
Jerusalem

(repeat)

A thousand steps lined with elders and children
Worn smooth by the feet of the millions of pilgrims
Lead some to the shrine and others home to dine
Jerusalem

Fierce adolescence with open aggression
Challenge the notion of nine-tenths possession
Whilst pinned to the masts, fly the flags of the past
Jerusalem

Fat men in sandals
With similar wives
Take photo reminders
Of the trip of their lives
Then move, as instructed
When the tour guide arrives
Jerusalem

Really love this song.....

Good folk song! Very nice guitar arrangement. Love the bit where "Jerusalem" is sung over that guitar part, nice combination. Good key changes through the verse. The transition from verse to chorus feels so natural, simple but so effective. Vocally, I hear no issues, a good vocal performance with the lyrics coming across very clearly. Very good work overall!

Beautiful acoustic guitar tracks. Pleasant vocal performance. Pretty melody. Nice arrangement. Good recording. Unususal theme. Original song.

I really like this song, it has vocals in the right places, the vocalist has a great voice...subtle vocal effects cool too, not over done. Guitar work held the melody wonderfully...great job
