Story Behind The Song
After packing to go to NY to a party for my grandmother's birthday, my girlfriend, who had just driven me to the Amtrak train station, broke the news to me that when I got back to L.A. I had to find a new place to live. On the train ride, I wrote this song on a napkin with the staff
with notes, lines and lyrics. At my destination in NY I was then told all my belongings ( musical instruments and clothes) and everyone else's on the train, was lost on a car that was disconnected from the rest of the train and was not able to be found. My feelings were all put in this song as I returned to L.A, with just the clothes on my back and nowhere to go.

Lyrics
I was awoken from a dream
I didn?t know where I was or where I?d been before
I only know that I?m here and I?ve got a long way to go
The trains on time
The sights are great
But what good is a good time when you?re all alone
Is this for real
Am I awake
Or is this all a dream
(muted trumpet solo)
I was awoken from a dream
I didn?t know where I was or where I?d been before
I only know that I?m here and I?ve got a long way to go
My bags are packed
I?m on my way
But where am I going
I?ve got nowhere to go
I?m on my way
No turning back
Gotta Go, Gotta Go
