Story Behind The Song

After a year of weighing out the differences in my decision of the prior relationship..., I'd finally come to the conclusion that I'd put way too much into the suffering portion of what I did wrong in the downfall of it. Somehow or another after all that time though, the good aspect always seemed to come back into what I'd let go as a great opportunity. And rather than take it at face value, I missed it more that way. It just made it harder to move on I think, and I needed to. I was probably passing up the chance to take what I'd LEARNED from it, and apply it to the next relationship and make that one GREAT. At least that's what I hope she did~

Song Description

upbeat tune I was looking to write at the time, rather than sulk in what I was feeling, I wanted to boost the pace while the lyrics probably could've worked well with a slower, sadder, composition, I wanted to try the exact opposite and uplift in a sense that the story was told, but I wasn't in the gutter because of it.

Lyrics

Shamed and lonely
That's the price you pay for the essence of your soul
and love's
never taken at face value when it ends

See you and I we were crazy
so much so we could never be
& we lied just to hang onto what we believed

So here we go
the trail of broken glass
thus are the dreams, what I think and what I know
I don't care anymore
Cause I've taken more than my share from this
and you-
walk right back into the part of me that's died
and you
I've missed you all this time baby

So dare I say, dearly departed
we're movin on to second best
but only we would know, I had that love
I left the rest

& I don't wanna look back,
on the outcome of me and you
a moment, a rose, and a cigarette
was the best that I could do

Cause that's not me, no that's not you

so here we go
the trail of broken glass
thus are the dreams what I think and what I know
I don't care anymore
Cause I've taken more than my share from this
and you-
walk right back into the part of me that's died
and you-
I've missed you all this time
