Story Behind The Song
I was looking for one to write on the guitar one day when I was in the Gulf. I was on watch, nothing was going on and two of my best friends had just gotten their honorable discharge and got out back to back pretty much. We all three went through a hell of a lot. They were my bass player, and drummer as well. So I had to do everything pretty much on my own from then on out. I came up with these lyrics one night on watch and mapped out a simple walkdown on the acoustic, then I thought, "Man this would be better on the keys." As soon as we pulled in I bought a Roland XP-30 and a nice condenser with a Fostex VF-08 digital recorder and immediately everything just kind of fell into place with this song. I remember when I sent it to both of them they told me they cried like b*tches. I thought it was a good way to let 'em know what a great influence they had on me.

Lyrics
See him standing
was he looking, what did he find?
the train is leaving
a stranger left behind
& in a moment his face becomes a dream
another memory, in the twilight so it seems
& we're rushing
for the place we never found
high ambition, though he echoes not a sound
a final wave now
hear the whistle as it rings throughout
another memory in the twilight so it seems
another memory in the twilight so it seems
did you know him, did you know you saved his life
a premonition, behind those blue eyes
the train is leavin, a stranger left behind
& you wonder of the chance to say goodbye
& he watches, everybody fades away
in the sunrise, though devoured by the day
a final wave now, hear the whistle as it rings thoughout
another memory, in the twilight so it seems
another memory in the twilight so it seems
