Story Behind The Song
Came from a conversation we were having about the loss of a spouse. Would we remarry or remain single? One of us very strongly felt that they would not remarry. They would be a solitary man.
Song Description
Man is going through life a bit aimlessly after the loss of his soul mate. He fulfills her wishes by scattering her ashes on the same beach where he proposed to her. He can not be with another, he will be alone until they eventually meet again.....

Lyrics
"Solitary Man"

I was somewhere in New Mexico
Driving down an old dirt road
When your memory burned me like that scorching sun
I could have sworn I saw you standing there
When I looked into that rear view mirror
But that desert heat plays tricks on everyone
I must have been lonely, ..... Thinkin' 'bout you baby
If only, ..... We could go back then
You'd hold me, ..... Like no one ever could, or even can
Like that again, for this solitary man
Now I'm a solitary man
Seems like only yesterday
We were on a beach in Monterey
Dodge'n waves under the moon
I thought I'd catch you by surprise
Then I saw our future in your eyes
I knew right then, that sometimes dreams come true
But here I am lonely, ..... Thinkin' bout you baby
If only, ..... We could go back then
You'd hold me, ..... Like no one ever could, or even can
Like that again, I'm a solitary man
Now I'm a solitary man
After the service, I took you where
I could spread our dreams in the ocean air
And said a little prayer,..... but not goodbye
'Cuz I'm gonna see you again,..... Until then,.....
I'll be this Solitary Man,..... A Solitary Man,....
