Story Behind The Song
Initially a reflective poem about where I spent time growing up on a farm west of Brisbane, Australia. Remembering the fun as a kid, the loss of my dog, riding horses - "those were the days".
Music was added later, but I found the original lyrics and melody in the verses a little wrong, so re-wrote the verses, kept the choruses and the instrumental as they were, and this song was born.

Lyrics
V1
It's never been the same
I guess it never will
But the images remain
Faded now and still
B1
But what if all this disappears
And scatters in the air
What will take it's place I fear
Good-bye my friend, good-bye
C1
But those were the days I remember so fondly with a smile
Those were the days I recall too well
Those were the days I believed in everything I saw
And all I saw could change with the wind
What I would give to live those days again
V2
Every year I gain
Is trading in this cold
But I feel summer rain
Like the memories of old
B2
It's too late now to turn around
It's too hard not to stare
But it hurts too much to walk away
Good-bye little boy, good-bye
