Story Behind The Song
Written completely on impulse. Was drawn to the 2/4 rhythm, had the opening lyric "Bad times ahead" in mind, and the rest wrote itself.
Song Description
A sort of bitter-sweet, bouncy 2/4 song, somehwere between pop-rock and country. Melody is a little sad and poignant in the verses, but starts to smile in the chorus.

Lyrics
Verse 1
Bad times ahead
Arrows with a warning aiming for my head
Cool, calm is your touch
Soothing every open nerve I need to still so much
B1
But I won't pretend
That I won't break or I won't bend
And I won't deny
That this place I'm in is opening the water in my eye
V2
And it's all around
Fear of slowly sinking into foreign ground
Lifeline it seems
Throw your rope to rescue me from these broken dreams
B2
And I know you're there
To see me through when they won't dare
And I understand
When there's nothing else but emptiness
You're offering your hand
C1
When it's all said and done
But I'm still chasing lights that fade away
Like the setting of the sun
And when I'm lost along the way
Is there something you could say
B3
And I won't pretend
That I won't break or I won't bend
And I understand
When there's nothing else but emptiness
You're offering your hand
C2 +
Something you could say
