Role Model

Story Behind The Song

This song was written because too often people judge one another and don't realize the consequences of their actions. The song's purpose is two fold. The first is to call out the men that enjoy such entertainment, however, condemn such vocation choices in their family. Secondly, it's to dispute the stereo-type that those in those type of professions have their terrible childhood to blame. Ultimately the choice is their own, for the most part.

Song Description

A father gets off work, stops at a strip club or brothel(not specified) and enjoys himself, heads home, the subsequent fighting with his wife wakes their daughter. He gives his little girl some advice about being all she can be, thinking he's father of the year. The next night, he curiously asks his entertainment about her child life, thinking it was horrible. She tells him quite the opposite, and that her dad was just like him. Unknowingly he could be leading his own daughter down the same path.

Lyrics

Role Model _Pop/Rock/R&B/Alternative

(Verse 1)
He punches out, it's time to go
Just one quick stop, won't take too long
He's just a guy and needs to have some fun

(Verse 2)
He looks to his left and turns to his right
And says a little prayer for the fallen tonight
And parks beneath the neon lights so bright

(Verse 3)
After he's done, and back at home
The missus smells the cheap perfume
She starts to scream and yell and wakes her up

(Verse 4)
She stumbles in, wiping her eyes
So innocent with a beautiful smile
He takes her so gently right back upstairs

(Bridge 1)
Then when he's tucking her in, she asks is everything alright
He nods and says don't worry honey, its just a little fight...

And then he tells his little girl that...

(Chorus)
"You can be anything you want to be
A doctor, a lawyer, a teacher you'll see
You're gonna fill my heart and soul with pride
Just don't cross the line into wrong from right
And say a little prayer for the fallen tonight
Close your eyes and dare to dream so high"

(Verse 5)
The very next night, back in that same private room
Her silky smooth skin can't calm his mood
His curiosity starts to overflow and he asks

(Verse 6)
"You're dad was a jerk, must've hit your mom,
Or touched you in places that felt so wrong,
Or why'd you end up in a place like this?"

(Bridge 2)
She shakes her head and says "Not at all,
You're way off, I chose this life on my own
When I was little daddy would always say to me...

(Chorus)

(Bridge 3)
And then he'd come home, big ol smile on his face
Smell of cheap perfume that he could not erase
Blood red lipstick stained upon his shirt
And then I'd dream of, being just like the girls
That so blissfully sent his head in a whirl
So I could fill his heart and soul with pride!"

[Solo]

(Verse 7)
He looks to his left, and turns to his right
And says a little prayer for the fallen...tonight
