Story Behind The Song
The first verse came fairly easily. Easily, considering line two had about 20 re-writes, but the concept stayed the same. I really wanted to swing the mood from total downer to something uplifting so the thought of emancipation came along and I decided to work that in with a broad notion that it could be triggered by whatever the listener wanted to attribute it to. A person, a group, a god?

Lyrics
Can't shake this feeling
Trouble keeps following me
Like wildfire, like wind storms, like rain
Wherever I'd run to I never could undo
The mistakes I made
I danced with the devil
Drank at his table
And stayed 'til the last ride was gone
Then you came and saved me, broke the chains that enslaved me
For so long. You gave me
(Chorus)
Freedom to fly, freedom to dream
When the walls are crashing down
Freedom to feel, freedom to see
Somewhere in the smoke and the wreckage
Love is found
You opened your heart
Led me out of the dark
Gave me the strength to start healing
With you by my side there's no reason to hide
From living my life, 'cause I have
(Chorus x2)
Freedom
