Story Behind The Song
I was playing music with a friend named Bill Hill, and told him I'd write a song with his name in it - just to prove I can write songs at will. It was finished the next day. It's only a ditty, but I really enjoy singing it.
Song Description
Story about a man debating whether he loves a woman enough to swim across a swollen river at night to reach her.
I just wanted a nice E A D song that was soulful. This is it. It is relaxing to sing.

Lyrics
CROSS THE RIVER
Well, I'm standing on the edge of the water, watching the moonlight rush downstream,
With this night so dark, I guess I ought to, make my way back home to you.
Sometimes a man can feel so lonely, sometimes a man can feel too blue,
so I guess I should find the courage, to cross the river to you.
And in this time of quiet reflection, sometimes my eyes can fail to see,
I've got to know, my sweet little baby, would you cross the river for me?
Well, we've had our share of fighting, and we sure know how to love,
so why are our stars solliding with some much violence in the heavens above?
Well, I'm looking passed to the hill now, to the house where I've paid my bill,
for all the things I said that were wrong, babe, and you say that you love me still.
