Story Behind The Song
When my heart can sing again, I promised myself, then I'll know my grieving is completed. And so it happened. Once again I awoke in the night with a song running through my mind. I quickly grabbed a pen and paper and copied down the words as quickly as they entered my mind. As I reviewed the words and meditated on their significance I thought - what a fitting tribute to Anna, my wife of 25 years, whom I had lost to cancer just over a year ago. Anna had loved her roses! A few months later, the Lord brought another little lady into my life. Her name is Roseann, and in her love I have found renewed hope, and tender healing from the disappointments of the past.

Lyrics
Do not entreat me to ever leave You
Or say from Your presence that I should depart
Who else could speak words of life everlasting
That heal my body - and my broken heart
Rose of Sharon, how sweet the fragrance
That's filling my spirit with hope anew
Your words of life are much sweeter than honey
And more refreshing than the morning dew.
You've been ever-present through all of my trials
A Friend when I'm lonely, a Helper indeed,
The Healer of bruises, my Comfort in sorrow
You strengthen each weakness, and meet every need.
More precious than silver or beautiful diamonds
The truth of Your value could never be told
There's no earthly measure with which to compare You
More priceless than rubies - much purer than gold.
