Story Behind The Song
Weeks and months - that's all the hope that the cancer specialist had given me for her life expectancy. It was becoming increasingly evident that his assessment was correct. It meant that our twenty-four years of love and devotion would soon be coming to an end. The pain that she felt was, at times, so intense that it could only be relieved by walking. So that is why we were strolling, hand-in-hand, along the sea-walk at 12:30 am. A full September moon was rising over Discovery Passage - and reflecting off the gentle waves of the incoming tide. Hold my hand Lord, my spirit cried - when the Best Friend I ever had is taken from me, I'm going to need Your hand to hold for strength and guidance - just let me know that You will still be there!

Lyrics
Hold my hand in the stillness of the moonlight
When the sweetness of Your presence is so dear
Even in the raging storm- when I'm tossed about and torn
Hold my hand so that I'll know that You are near
Oh how good it is to walk with You beside me
Just to feel the presence of Your hand in mine.
It's so comforting to know that where ever I may go
In my path Your glorious light will always shine.
There are times when it would seem to me so easy
To just wander off where others would not dare,
But when I am fully lost - when I've counted all the cost
I just turn and find that hand was always there!
In the middle of life's tempest and the fury
When I cannot feel the love for dread and fear,
Though around is shifting sand if You're holding to my hand
I know we'll make it - just as long as You are near
