Story Behind The Song
This soldier has been told, or read about, obvious lies by higher ups, as we were told regarding the Vietnam War. Most veterans will tell you that they were proud to serve their country... but prayed everyday for a safe return home to their loved ones. They wanted to live!!!
Song Description
This Soldier wants to live, as most do. Military folks know there are times when their lives will be placed in danger, and accept that. What they do not understand, however, and never will, is how their government leaders can place them in harms way without the necessary equipment, supplies and forceful leadership to get the job done and get on back home to their loved ones. If war is the solution, then strap it on with all we have short of nuclear weapons, and get it done! Do not dicker around with the lives and sacrifices of the Soldiers, Marines and Sailors as if they mean nothing in "the big picture." Their lives are very meaningful to them and their loved ones!

Lyrics
I Wanna Live!
I wanna live. Though you up there, up so high,
don't give a damn if I live or die.
Well, I wanna live.
I wanna live... I wanna live... I wanna live.
So, take me home. Don't ask me to die here for you,
like my buddy whose death meant nothing to most of you.
Well, he wanted to live.
He wanted to live... He wanted to live...
He wanted to live.
BRIDGE
When I came over here, we were told...
that things would sooon get better.
But, I know now that's a lie for I've seen too many maimed,
and watched too many die.
And, they wanted to live... They wanted to live... They wanted to live.
Take me from this land, where folks line up... after hearing a lie.
Strapped with bombs, they blow themselves sky high
'Cause they wanna die. They wanna die...They wanna die.
But, I wanna live.
Repeat 1st Verse
I wanna live... I wanna live.
I wanna live...
I wanna live.
