He sat me down, grabbed a paper and pen
Then we dove on in to my way back when

Told him 'bout huntin' with my dad
And campfire chats that we had
And how life fell to pieces when he left us alone
Dropped out of school to work the land
Had to grow up fast become a man
It was back breakin' soul shakin' but we kept our home

The more I talked the more his eyes grew wide
He dropped his pen and slid closer to my side

Minutes turned to hours and I put my boy to bed
And all that digging up the past made me think about my dad
Next day I grabbed a photo album and went over to his place
I sat down on the grass and put flowers on his grave
