Story Behind The Song
I saw Tony Kushner's amazing play Angel's in America. Loved the title and the concepts he was working with. That night I went to sleep thinking about a song and quite literally jumped out of my bed at 4 in the morning searching for a pen and paper. I didn't even turn the light on. I wrote the whole ruff draft in the pitch black in about 15 minutes.
Song Description
Inspired from Dylan's "With God on Our Side" I'm asking what ever higher power is listening, the better nature sides of all of us... the Angels of America if you will... how we could let our selves become so divided?
It's an anthem for hope that perhaps as a people we'll come together with our shared faith in humanity instead of using our religion as a justification for our actions.

Lyrics
Angels of America
by Mike Tecku
They say we're going back to the garden
To live a life of ease
But only the priests and the politicians get
The apples in the trees.
But knowledge is power
And power is key
To keep up so filled with fear
That the truth's to hard to see.
Angels of America
Where have you gone?
We've been lost for so long.
Will you heal our divide
And help us see
That God will never chose a side.
And how many people have we killed
In our crusade?
Its funny how killins not a sin
Long as there's money to be made.
Cause money has the power
To control the crowd
And cover up the prayers
That I scream out loud.
Angels of America
Where have you gone?
We've been lost for so long,
Will you heal our divide
And help us see
That God will never chose a side.
Do you believe that everyone
Outside your church walls is wrong?
Can't you see we're all just singing
Different words to the same song?
Angels of America
Where have you gone?
We've been lost for so long.
Will you heal our divide
And help us see
That God will never chose a side.
Don't turn me a way
Tell me loves to late
This home's all I need
Heaven can wait.
Hallelujah!
