Lyrics
One Simple Task
Words and music by Gordon Moir and George Paterson
My love is like a mountain
On goes most poetry
So I?ll explain, why I refrain
From such comparisons to thee
My heart beats like the sun on fire
Is hideous and twee
You see, I control the elements
Not they in charge of me
Take the moon, for instance
Of whom so many write
Impressive in the night time
Not so much by daylight
When I first gaze upon her
She?s staring at her feet
So dance proud princess, while you can
By day you?re obsolete
What of Poseidons mistress
Whose bellows crack the air?
With thunderous surf and mighty foam??..
As if I really care
So I will drink them drop by drop
And as they do their worst
I?ll sink the minor oceans
To quench my lunchtime thirst
My love is like a mountain?
If so then I give up
Unless it?s Kilmanjaro
Which I levelled cup by cup
And with all the powers I possess
And feared by those few above me
One Simple Task
Beyond my grasp?.
I still can?t make you love me
