The HangingTree

Story Behind The Song

I heard this song during my watching of the movie."Mockingjay" part one...I waited through all the credits to find the name of the song and decided I needed to record this song for myself...I start out with little back ground then as the song goes on I keep increasing with additions till the end has a lot of back ground music, close to completely covering my vocal...it is intentional...

Lyrics

Are you, are you
coming to the tree
where I told you to run
so we'd both be free
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we meet at midnight
In the hanging tree

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where the deadman called out
for his loveto flee
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
if we meet at midnight
in the hanging tree

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
where I told you to run
So we'd both be free
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we meet at midnight
In the hanging tree

Are you, are you
coming to the tree
Ware a neckless of hope
side by side with me
Strange things did happen here
no stranger would it be
if we meet at midnight
in the hanging tree

Are you, are you
coming to the tree
where I told you to run
so we'd both be free
Strange things did happen here
no stranger would it be
if we meet a midnight
in the hanging tree

Are you, are you
coming to the tree
where they strung up a man
they say who murdered three
Strange things did happen here
no stranger would it be
if we meet at midnight
in the hanging tree

Are you, are you
coming to the tree
where the dead man called out
for his love to flee
Strange things did happen here
no stranger would it be
if we meet at midnight
in the hanging tree

Are you are you
Oooo, ooo, ooo

spooky haunting sound, well arranged, atmospheric, builds nicely

Here's a ethereal rendition of an old folk song. Just in time for Halloween. What could be creepier than meeting at the hanging tree? The vocals suit the song and the instrumentation is great. The drums and flute set up the song nicely. Nice addition of the male vocal.

starting had my attention right away, primodal drumming
could not hear this beautiful voice as it should be heard
I'm having a good talk with the engineer

Something really hypnotic about this track. Nicely put together and builds really well. Intrigued to know what the tree is.
Nice understated string (keyboard) backdrop.
Good job I would say.
