Story Behind The Song
I was playiing a sold out, all ages CD release party at a local Borders Book store. The manager, who had eight weeks prep-time for the event completely droppedf the ball, but attempted to lay it all on my lap. Even involving other angry pasive aggressive employees. Since I could get no satisfaction from the insulting fallout, I wrote a song about it/her/them.

Lyrics
Wicked Kate
(c) 2004, words and music, Colleen Coadic
I know a woman wicked Kate
she wears a cloak of weakness
anger turned outward as hate
she cast a spell on snow white me
poisoning anyone who questioned her philosophy
I fell from bitter Jackie?s grace
another loveless woman
blinded by her emptiness
sometimes the truth is hard to see
buried by all the crap we use to smother all our pain
chorus: this black you share with everyone
this red you bleed until you?ve won
this white you cannot own or do
as long as you can?t tell the truth
and there are men who are lost too
like Dan who lost his faith when wicked Kate turned him to fool
the swords we swing can cut both ways
the words used carelessly can haunt us through the end of days
