Story Behind The Song
I bought my 1959 Gibson J45 from someone in my unit while in the US Army in 1965. This lyric is simply the story of a 50-year relationship - my guitar and me.
Song Description
Homage to "my old guitar," my songwriting partner and family member. The inimitable Tim Crouch does the instrumental tracks.

Lyrics
This Old Guitar
I have this old guitar, it has lines across its face
Its back was broken once, the scars are still in place
But its voice is even sweeter than it was when we were young
I wish that I could sing like my old guitar
One time, for a year, I put my old guitar away
I was busy with important stuff and had no time to play
But when I picked it up again, it felt just like a good old friend
I wish I could be patient like my old guitar
These days - most every morning
I touch the strings and say
What do you have for me to listen to today
It's not worth a lot of money - that's a lot like me
It's been changed and kicked around some - again, a lot like me
But I don't think I'll ever be, no matter what I do
As rich and warm and true as my old guitar
