BE MY LADY.....(I want you to!!!)

Story Behind The Song

It's a relationship that has been going on (and off) for many years, currently off. But if you threw the two of us into a room alone, it would turn back on again, at least for that evening, if you get my meaning, the chemistry is just that strong, and has only gotten stronger over the years. But there doesn't seem to be a room available to us these days. It happened one Christmas night. We'd had too much champagne and a loud argument erupted followed by a split of duration unknown. I thought that maybe if I wrote a song about our romance, it might help get us back together, as neither of us really wanted to be apart. I would be her "Knight in Shinning Armor" again, and we would blissfully ride off into the sunset together, right? Well, not exactly. I sent her the Cd expecting she immediately would listen to it and come running back into my loving arms, right? Not exactly. A week went by and I'd heard nothing, and I was somewhat perplexed. Finally I called her up and she informed me that she was going out of town for the weekend, but mentioned nothing about the song! So I asked her outright what she thought of my "Masterpiece"? Oh that, she said, I didn't listen to it. WHAT? Why I asked dumbfounded? "I just didn't want to be reminded of you", she coldly replied! WHAT?? My brain absolutely refused to process what it was hearing! I mean, how many women get a romantic song written about them, and then not to be listened to even once? So I asked her to take the Cd with her and listen to it while she was away. She said she might and I felt relieved, everything would definitely work itself out now, wouldn't it? Not actually. Upon her return, she calls me up and says "Nice song I want to breakup" all in one breath! At this point I'm just trying to retrieve my jaw from the floor! As things turned out, we eventually did get back together for another nine months. Off and on of course. Enjoy. Cameron Smith

Lyrics

VERSE:

I PACKED UP MY WORLD AFTER MANY LONG YEARS

HEADED BACK HOME WITH MY PAIN AND MY FEARS

I HAD A GIRL IN MIND, FROM A PREVIOUS LIFE

BLOND, SWEET, PRETTY AND LOADED WITH FIGHT

THE SPARK THAT SIZZLED LONG AGO WAS STILL BURNING BRIGHT

MY SEXXXY LITTLE BEAUTY IS A LOVIN' DELIGHT

BUT LOVE RUNS HOT AND COLD, AND IT'S CHILLY TONIGHT

I'M ALL ALONE AND BLUE, AND SHE'S NOWHERE IN SIGHT

IN SIGHT, IN SIGHT

BRIDGE:

DON'T TAKE MY HEART AND STEAL AWAAAY YEAHHH

CHORUS:

TIME IS SHORT MY LOVE YOU SEE

DON'T GET LOST IN FANTASY

THOUGHTS OF YOU SHOULD NOT SUPRISE

I SAW THE MAGIC IN YOUR EYES

I HOPE THIS FEELING NEVER ENDS

I'LL LOVE YOU WHEN WE MEET AGAIN

THE MEMORY OF YOU EXCITES

I'LL HOLD YOU IN MY DREAMS TONIGHT

I WANT YOU TO----"BE MY LADY"

OHH, YES I DO
