Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song in the early 90's for a country concept band in Miami called "The Do-Right Leaners"-- the band crashed, but the song survives. The song title came from brainstorming on the band name. My favorite line from that exercise did not make it into this song (I'm an angel with an angle, but I'm not the fallen kind"), but that line goes back in the lyric file for another try someday.
Song Description

Lyrics
LEANING IN LOVE WITH YOU
VERSE 1:
Well there's a pine tree leaning over at the VFW hall,
Each day it leans a little more, one day it will fall.
Though I lean on your affection, I won't fall so easily,
This tilt in your direction is a matter of degree.
CHORUS:
'Cause I ain't falling, but I'm leaning that-a-way,
I don't love you, but it could happen any day.
I ain't falling, no I don't believe I'm falling,
I'm just leaning in love with you.
VERSE 2:
I'm a leaner, not a lover, it's the best that I can do,
Oh I'm sure it would be wonderful to fall in love with you.
One day I'm leaning closer, next day a different slant,
Each day you lean on me to say I love you, but I can't.
CHORUS:
'Cause I ain't falling, but I'm leaning that-a-way,
I don't love you, but it could happen any day.
I ain't falling, no I don't believe I'm falling,
I'm just leaning in love with you.
BRIDGE:
Commitment, a lesson I won't learn,
Don't want to fall in love again,
Don't want to crash and burn.
Commitment means crying in the end,
And I'd sooner be a leaner
And not break my heart again.
CHORUS:
So I ain't falling, but I'm leaning that-a-way,
I don't love you, but it could happen any day.
I ain't falling, no I don't believe I'm falling,
I'm just leaning in love with you.
CHORUS:
I ain't falling, but I'm leaning that-a-way,
I don't love you, no I don't, but it could happen any day.
I ain't falling, no I don't believe I'm falling,
I'm just leaning in love with, leaning in love with,
Leaning in love with you.
Timber!
