Story Behind The Song
Wanted to created something different inspired by a song Ain't no grave originally written by Johnny Cash that was rerecorded as a cover with verses added to it. They detuned the guitars so I did similar detuning to CGCGCC giving it a very growly, dark and visceral feel to it. One of my favs. Students I teach voted on this for me to perform and go public with. Currently being produced by Peter Stevenson of Turnaround Music, Taree, NSW, Australia.

Lyrics
Facing my reflection what had I become
So easy to pull that trigger, point the gun
Desparation in their eyes, no where to run
All their faces haunt me, as I swim in my rum
The money's good, need a better life
Must stay the course, compartmentalise
It's what I've trained for, wish I could settle down
Compartmentalise, compartmentalise
Driving through this town, crosses on corners
His angel of death, executing my orders
Enemies of the state, those who blow the whistle
My clients seal the deal once I write my epistle
The same will come to them, same will come to me,
Must stay the course, compartmentalise
Let's just face it now no escaping the truth
Compartmentalise, compartmentalise
Sing me songs of redemption
Sing me songs of redemption
Sing me songs of redemption
It's too good not to be true (Rpt)
Each Sunday they rock up thirsty for redemption
The preacher pardons their sins, points the right direction
Always been a patriot, laid my life on the line
To serve God and country, am I too lost to find?
