Lyrics

That Was Then/This Is Now - by Danny Stultz

When I was a young boy run boy
Some things passed me by.
I never had a clue about the real life.
I was kind of shy.
I'm talkin' bout a mixed up country boy
Seasoned by the time.
I grew up with the best darned friends yeah
They're hard to leave behind.
Don't you know girl.
That was then and this is now,
And we made it through somehow.
All those crazy times we shared.
Doing things that no one dared.
It was always meant for fun.
We never tried to hurt no one.
I used to laugh and I still laugh today.
This good old times they slip away.

I must of been 16 a mean scene.
Sweet love called my name.
She grabbed me by the heart strings baby.
Like an anchor and a chain.
A Romeo, and Juliet summer walking hand in hand.
What we had was something baby no one could understand.
Don't you know girl.
That was then and this is now.
And we made it through somehow.
All those crazy times we shared
Doing things that no one dared.
It was always meant for fun
Never tried to hurt no one.
I used to laugh I still laugh today.
Those good old times they slip away.

Head out to the country where the fun's free
Of our little town.
All the guys and girls are revved up
Waiting to get down.
We always took it ot the limit
Some friends lost the game.
If we had it all to do over we wouldn't change a thing.
Don't you know girl
That was then and this is now.
And we made it through somwehow.
All those crazy times we shared.
Doing things that no one dared.
It was always meant for fun.
We never tried to hurt no one.
I used to laugh I still laugh today.
Those good old times they slip away.
Oh yeah they slip away.
My Lord
They slip away.

Love the opening line with its use of "young boy, run boy" - very cool. And then subsequent use of "sixteen, mean scene". Great musical accompaniment. I'm most intrigued by your end of line internal rhyming.

Great country song!! Great lyrics and hook!! Still singing it in my head!:) nice country vocals!!

A good feel for Country and Western. Great tune.

I really like this one. Good lyrics, vocals, harmonies, instruments, and rhythm. Good stuff. Keep it up.

vox reminds me of "Seasons in the Sun"....intentional?
Good recording, nice production. Snare is a little weak to my ears..I like some oomph in the smack of a snare...just me....
Lyrically doesn't grab me....but they make sense, in a songwriting way.....

Nice little foot tapper. good subtle harmony. nice deep bass drum.

Instruments sound great

addicted to life! Hope 2 hear more! BIG LIKE!
