Story Behind The Song
This song was inspired by many women I have met over the years that have raised their children as single parents. I was attracted to my wife after seeing the courage and dedication she brought to raising her child. My own mother raised four children after my father was killed. I can still remember at age 5 sleeping in my bed with a pot to catch the water dripping from my leaking bedroom ceiling. We all turned out just fine thanks to mom.
Song Description
Dedicated to single mothers and the difficulty many of them face in raising children by themselves - especially those with no support other than their own hard work and sacrifice.

Lyrics
Sole Provider Written by: Al Hovden SOCAN C 2010
It's been a pretty hard life
And it's startin' to show
She's been rockin' the cradle alone
And stayin' home
And all her friends never call her up
They're drivin' round in their big new cars
The life that they live
They ain't got no time to give
It's been a pretty hard life
But she'll be back on her feet again
No time to cry at all
From when she lifts up her head
Til she lays it to bed
She's been the sole
Sole provider
There's nobody, nobody, nobody
Standin' beside her
She's the
Sole sole provider
She's makin' a home on her own
She's the sole provider
She's the sole provider
She says there must be a better way
The ex hasn't paid a day
Behind on the phone
She can't even get a loan
It's been a pretty long haul
But she'll get back on her feet again
She's learnin' to crawl
From when she lifts up her head
Til she lays it back to bed
CHORUS
And when she gets home at night
Doin' everything right
Don't leave her with much to give
But nothin' or no one can get between
Her and her kid
She works hard all day
And she spends all her pay
On a roof that leaks on the bed
They call it livin' on love
But when push comes to shove
You know that love's just not enough
When you're the
CHORUS
