Story Behind The Song
This was a song I had started years ago. Originally I had written it as a song called A Real Canadian Holiday - for people leaving the cold north for a winter holiday in the sun. That line fits the cadence of the last line of the chorus perfectly - but I thought that was too restrictive. Later I thought of doing various versions of the song - A Real American Holiday, A Real Jamaican Holiday etc. - like Billy Ocean's Caribbean Queen where he did various versions for different markets around the world. I finally decided to turn it into a tropical holiday song with "on my way" in the title - a more generic travel song title.
Song Description
Looking forward to a holiday in the sun with turtles swimming around you and an overdose of sun and sand.

Lyrics
On My Way (The Holiday Song)
On my way
Gonna take a holiday
Big jet plane
Take me someplace where the
Summer's warm
Somewhere I can feel reborn
No more rain
Throw my cares away
Won't be home
For who knows how long
Where I'm going
No more phone
Well I can't afford to pay the roaming
Close my eyes
I'm on my way
I want to fly away
Spread my wings I'm on my way
On my way
I'm leaving on an island getaway
Going where skies are blue
Nothing much to do
On my way
I'm on my way on a holiday
On my way
I know I'm gonna want to stay
Won't be home
Til I get myself a
Brand new tan
An overdose of sun and sand
Make a splash
In a sea of glass
Ocean sprays
And turtles riding waves
Surround you
Endless days
I'll make it all come true
Just close my eyes
I'm on my way
