Story Behind The Song
My name is Miss Lucille. I wrote Pork Chop Cemetery Blues because it actually happened to me. I weighed at least 330 pounds. One day I went to my doctor and while I was talking to the nurse I told her I felt as if I could sleep one hundred years and that I'd been feeling like that for days. She said, "let me check your blood sugar". She took it and quickly left the room and returned with a doctor. He then left and returned with a supervising doctor. He said, "your blood sugar is 548 and it should be closer to 70. You need to be admitted to the hospital immediately. If you go home, you will probably go into a diabetic coma and die." I told him, "I don't have diabetes. I just drank a lot of sugary sodas." He said, "well, no. You have diabetes and you may well die, tonight." So I was admitted to the hospital and they placed all kinds of tubes in me, running this way and that..." When I finally stabilized, I went back and completed my video, regarding my weight problem. I taped it in the cemetery to remind myself where I didn't want to be soon. I began to follow a strict diet and also obtained bariatric surgery and went down to 160 pounds. I am 5'10". I feel like a new person and hope to live a long, productive life. This is my Pork Chop Cemetery Blues story. Thanks for reading it.
