No Justice

Story Behind The Song

I had read where Jesus had a moment of doubt on the cross..."why hadst thou forsaken me", etc. I just went from there. It must have seemed like He was totally alone and questioning even His own motives as He suffered on the cross. The pain and emotional turmoil must heve been overwhelming. That's why there is a piece of a parable that just sort of drifts off in the bridge. There may have even been a feeling of anger, which would be quite understandable under the circumstances, and thats in the lyric as well. None of us can pretend to know what He must have gone through, but we can imagine...

Song Description

Christ's lament from the cross. The lyrics are Jesus talking to God, and asking why. Then there is a parable that seems to make no sense.

Lyrics

No Justice
Lyrics and music c. Steve Waddington

I followed all of the rules, did what You told me to
Tried to stick to the plan, Son Of God-Son Of Man
But You're gone like a ghost just when I need You most
I guess there's No Justice in the world

Well, I have suffered the scorn, just like this crown of thorns
Look at the trouble I'm in, just trying to save them from Sin
And if You're really there, why don't You answer my Prayer
I guess there's No Justice in the world

So tell me what is this for, I just don't know anymmore
I used to be sure my intentions were pure
And if I sound insane, it's because of the pain
I guess there's No Justice in the world

Its hard to hold on to faith when your strength slips away
And you're left with these doubts of what your life's all about
And then you're thrown in the hands of those who don't give a damn
I guess there's No Justice in the world
(Will somebody please, take these nails out of me...)

I cried because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet
The man who had no feet was crying because he had no food to eat
He had no food to eat because he lost his job at the shoe store
He gave me all the shoes he had 'cause he doesn't need them anymore

So here's how it ends, betrayed by family and friends
And it won't be too long 'til I'm back where I belong
And in better times I'd cross my heart, hope to die
I guess there's No Justice in the world...

(In better times I'd cross my heart hope to die...)
There's just No Justice in the world
