Story Behind The Song

This is the first song I ever wrote. I was playing in an "originals band" - and all of the songs were written by a young girl - 40 years younger than myself - who was writing one or two songs every week. I thought to myself: "Self - you know all of the same words and chords she is using - write yourself a song" So, at dusk, while walking thru the woods on the way to rehearsal - while strumming my guitar, I looked up and saw the first star of the evening appear. I made a wish and, by the time I made it over to "Ed's House", the entire first verse and chorus was complete.

Song Description

This is a story of "what REAL - true love" is. This song tells the story of a couple - in which the woman had bigger dreams than the man. She left and moved away - to pursue her bigger dreams - and he knew he could never follow. He thought of her often - and although he was sad and lonely - he wished only the best for her - and wished that she be successful and happy. While sitting outside at dusk - and the evening grows, he "Wishes on a Star" for her success and happiness.
