Story Behind The Song
While working as a aquarium technician (fish guy), I serviced the tank of an ageing woman in her sixties. She was always depressed by the fact that her first two husbands died before she reached the age of 55. She was a character, and impacted my life with her wit and compassion. She also maintained a strong drive and skill to complain about nearly everything in her life. I hope she is happy now.

Lyrics
lonely Myrna is sad
she sits by the window with her pet fish Gene
she wonders where she got the luck
to have two husbands kick-off so darn young
she says to me
if I had a shiny hammer
I'd build me a silver space ship
launch myself up to the moon
and there she'd grab a fist full of star dust
to sprinkle in her leaky eyeballs
and smile once more no longer blue
lonely Myrnas got a gun
it shoots out hot glue, to fix her figurines
the maid comes twice a week
but there is nothing to clean, but Myrna's cluttered heart
she says to me
Myrna reminds me once in a while
never go to bed angry at the ones you love
she says to me
if I had a shiny hammer
I'd build me a silver space ship
launch myself up to the moon
and there she'd grab a fist full of star dust
to sprinkle in her leaky eyeballs
and smile once more no longer blue
lonely Myrna is sad
