Story Behind The Song
Men look for women (pipits are female birds) in bars all the time. Picking and choosing. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. Happens to everyone.
Song Description
Guy is nite clubbing and looks over the women in the club; dissing most and the one he likes is basically not interested in him. He takes it with a grain of salt feeling she won't take a chance on a wild night. He blows it off and gets ready for another night. No big deal.

Lyrics
Not A Thing Of Consequence
Words & Music by Frank Pusateri
I was wolfing down a Heinekin watching the pipit eat their young
So what if I cast my net out nightly maybe I'll take one out for fun
I ask a few to stop hawking me with their sustaining diligence
It's not always worth the aggravation when it's nothing of consequence
Not a thing of consequence, Not a thing of consequence
I mulled over the audience as I began my descent
Suddenly my personal stock increased by at least twenty percent
Out of the safety of the nest, they perched brooding and scantily clad
It reminds me of the brief encounters I wish I never had
Not a thing of consequence, I've got nothing to lose
The pipit flew away, it want no part of me
And I agree it makes no sense
Left unprotected near its bottle tree
It became another nothing, nothing!
Not a thing of consequence, I've got nothing to lose
And nothing to gain
