Steer the Ship

Lyrics

I find you all at sea
Exactly where I thought you'd be
Foolish, young and lazy
Scatter brained and crazy!
Here's your second chance!
Don't leave it all to circumstance
Find your voice of reason
Give your life some meaning

So wake up! You need a shake up!
Do what's right and not what's easy
Steer the ship and damn the storm!
Believe you can and you'll be half way there

Music fills your heart
You've learned to play so make a start
To write the songs of freedom
Let the people hear them
Doubt - the dream will kill
More than failure ever will
So strive for self assurance
Confidence, endurance

And wake up! You need a shake up! etc

You gotta get out of bed, put on your shoes
Get off your arse and read the news
There's so much in your world that needs to change!
Here's your chance to make amends
Get on that march with all your friends
Check out the flags and banners that you need!

(instrumental)

So wake up! You need a shake up! etc

Well can't you see the things I say
Will change the way it is today
It's your 'me first' generation that's to blame
You could have stopped the runaway train
Of forest fires and climate change
I wonder what your kids are gonna say!

So step up to the plate
And don't you underestimate
Democracy and freedom
The power of the people

So wake up! You need a shake up!
Do what's right and not what's easy
Steer the ship and damn the storm!
Believe you can and you'll be half way there

Believe you can and you'll be half way there

Positive song well recorded nice harmonies too!

Dad (grownup) to teenager: Get your act together. It's up to you to change the world. This is a highly original motivational (kick in the rear) song. I really enjoyed listening to it. There are some priceless lyrics that are hard-hitting and effective: "foolish, young and crazy, scatter-brained and lazy" (Ouch!) assurance/endurance. Loved the harmony. Fantastic high-energy, positive instrumentation. Horns are GREAT, and the alarm clock sound effect is awesome. Very creative production.

A most enjoyable listen , thank you .
