A Musician's Farewell

Story Behind The Song

In memory of a musician friend who left us long before his time. He lived life on his own terms, but I think if he could come back that he would have wanted to warn younger people to consider the consequences of living life in the fast lane.

Song Description

A word of warning about life in the fast lane

Song Length 4:33 Genre Folk - Country

A Musician?s Farewell

(Chorus)

Don?t weep for me now that I?m gone
Have a party in my name
Don?t shed a tear cause if you do
It?ll be a cryin? shame
Life was full; I had some fun
Ain?t sayin I?d do it the same
Don?t weep for me now that I?m gone
Have a party in my name

I played some music and sang some songs
Bout Honky Tonkin Round
I smiled on stage for all the girls
My wanderin eyes had found
Bright lights always blinded me
To the place I was bound
And ol? Jack Black, my friend for years,
Kept callin? me on down

(Short instrumental break)

It?s funny how the years flew by
Got lost somewhere in time
It?s odd how quick the money shrunk
From a dollar to a dime
It?s strange to dream of better things
Than singin words that rhyme
But by and by the chorus calls
For something more sublime

(Repeat Chorus)
Listen all you wild young things
Hear what I have to say
I chose my life; I lived it hard
Bout all I did was play
Consider what you want in life
Live it your own way
Just don?t forget for what you choose
Somebody?s got to pay

(Repeat Chorus)
