Story Behind The Song
This is one of those rare songs that popped into my head almost completely written - words and music just showed up. I see this song as an odd juxtaposition of an upbeat melody with some very disturbing lyrics.

Lyrics
I Don?t Drink Too Much
© 2005 Martha Ann Brooks
Don?t you hate it When people get in your face
They act like its their job to police the human race
They say I?m havin way too many beers
I just look at them and smile
Then politely close my ears
Chorus:
Oh you know I don?t drink too much
Only til I get a buzz
In the mornin my mouth?s like fuzz
But what the Hay it?s another day
No No I don?t drink too much
Just get a teeny weeny buzz
It?s like a little honey bee
Takin me away
Some people say I?m a certified idiot
But I tell them drinking beer?s my hobby it don?t cost too much
Just a couple of loved ones, my job and even my car
But with my personality I know I will go far
At least in this bar
Chorus:
I look in the mirror the reflection?s getting older each day
But I don?t care cause we?re all gonna die anyway
Excuse me while I take a little stroll over here
All this deep talk and philosophizing
Has made me want another beer
Chorus:
Bridge:
I know what tomorrow will bring
That honey bee, she?s got quite a sting
But lucky for me I have an instant cure
A little nip or shot will help for sure
Chorus:
Tag chorus: It?s like a little honey bee taking me away, away
