Story Behind The Song
It's a play on words... all those years ago... of course, and initially I was envisioning it as a bar room 'still drinkin' type of tune, then thought the message is actually a lot stronger by being taken a little more seriously.

Lyrics
All Those Beers Ago

They told me I was a fool, & I believed them
They gave me all the rules, & I broke them
I rodeo'd horses meaner than a mad dog
Busted bones they couldn't put the right names on
I drove six hundred miles of burnin' desert daylight
I got mixed up in one or two too many bar fights
I picked myself up, said it's time to start a new life
But I wound up, right back in the same strife
You'd hope I'd listen
Maybe now I'd know
What I was thinkin'
All those beers ago
I can think of all the wise men that I followed
I can think of how I bit off more'n I could swallow
The little run-away heart-breakers
gone at the next stop
& the get rich deals, a cloud of smoke and then
I'm worse off
I never stopped to see what good this life
could do me
My so-called friends were really only tryin' a screw me
It's the kind of life you live runnin' full throttle
I put my faith down, in every next bottle
You'd hope I'd listen
Maybe now I'd know
What I was thinkin'
All those beers ago
Now every sinner, he don't long for redemption
And that was never gonna be my intention
I still don't know how I came to my senses
Buildin' bridges, mendin' fences...
They say it's never too late to change all your bad ways
Even if you do it right there, on your last day
It might be little by little, it might fall from above
Show yourself some forgiveness, show yourself some love
